UPDATE
The upper elementary received enough funding to have a new play structure installed and fall material placed around the existing and new play structure. Thanks to grants and the generous donations received. There is still work that must be done, we will have community work days in the near future to help install additional fall material and taking care of other needed items. Please check back for those dates.
At our school, over 700 children go outside to play on equipment that is unsafe, outdated and simply inadequate for the number of children and their needs. Parents, students, teachers and administrators were given the opportunity to share their dreams for our playgrounds. Project Playground is the result of those dreams and is a community build project which includes the renovation of two existing play areas - one that is used for students in grades K-2 and one that is used for students in grades 3-8. The majority of the equipment is over 30 years old, in very poor condition, and there is no equipment designed for special needs students.
We are in the process of fundraising for Project Playground. Fundraisers have been held during the school year, donation requests have been sent and grant applications have been submitted. If you would like to contribute to our fundraising efforts, please contact Breann Cooper via email at [email protected].
Do you want to know what students think about our playgrounds? Students in grades 3rd-5th were asked to share their thoughts last year. Click here to read a sampling of their responses.
